New car stereo - integrated satnav, or separate?
OK, it's posted in the ICE forum, but I'm impatient, and satnav is IC but it isn't really E
Anyone got any thoughts on this? Budget preferably not more than £600, but I can stretch if I really must.
I’m looking for a radio/CD player head unit, can be double DIN.
I want to connect a fully hardwired carphone, NOT bluetooth.
I want to play DVDs (of MP3, or satnav – not films), so it’s a bit future-proof.
I want a satnav system that works (if I don’t get the one for the PDA). Touchscreen would be very handy, but it must work in bright sunshine, as I’m in a very sunny country and the stereo is mounted high in the dashboard. Voice control is not necessary.
I want to be able to connect an iPod or similar (in future). I don’t know the difference btwn MP3 and WMA, so I don’t know if this makes a difference. If I’m told to stick to one when burning CDs, I can do this.

Brendan you can have all of those features for a fraction of the cost by hiring SalNav(tm), not only can I provide full route instructions I can also provide the missing E of your IC by singing in between directions
I don't mind a bit of sun either but I'm not sure I fancy having an iPod stuck somewhere

I have a suspicion that the SalNav system is a non-starter, as the ideal solution will be dashboard-mounted () and I think my wife will vehemently object to me using the touch-screen facility.
anyone got any other suggestions, pleeeeeze
