Default HR Interview

Hi everyone,
I've just resigned from my previous crappy employer, took the package, had an interview with another company and been told that I can skip the second interview and move straight onto the HR chat.
Now, this is done over the phone, it's to discuss salary etc, does this mean it's in the bag?? or are there pitfalls to expect,

any previous experience with this shared would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds to me the same way we conduct our interviews. The "HR" interview is usually all the soft skill type questions that HR just love to ask. You know the kind of thing "where do you see yourself in 5 years", "whats your greatest acheievement todate" etc etc. Usually they ask some questions like this and then chat about salary/package and notice periods etc.
So a search on google for interview questions and have a read through a few, it usually pays to have thought about your answers prior to the tel call.
good luck
cheers

Hello

HR people are the spawn of the devil. Be careful with your answers, and do the research as mentioned above.

Also be aware that until you sign that contract they can refuse you the position. They will be looking for any reason not to hire you so just be friendly, positive and generally cheerful. Don't 'umm' and 'ahhh' too much - silence is far preferable!

Other than echoing the above, the other way to look at it is that this HR chat wouldn't be going ahead unless the company were very interested. As you've left your previous lot on a package, you've nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

Having had two interviews with separate companies recently (yet to hear back on either) - in one of them the HR interview was a 15 minute bolt on after the "main" interview, the others don't do one (although I'd need a second technical interview before I get any offer). In the HR one, there wasn't really much in the soft skill line, just a talk about terms, a bit to convince you they were good people to work for etc, and a few questions where there was an obvious wrong answer if you wanted the job!

I think all this really proved to me is that no two interviewers and no two companies have the same style, so the only way to be certain is to go ahead and see what happens!

And look on the bright side - with the way my company is going at the moment, I'd leap at the chance of leaving with the package, but it ain't gonna happen.
