How soon should you announce.......
That you are expecting a baby?
My wife and I have found out she is pregnant, but were wondering when we should tell folk.
She is 6 weeks gone, and our immediate families know, but we wondered long long to leave it before making it public knowledge.
I know some folk wait 8 or even 12 weeks, whereas some folk announce it before the test kit has even dried!
Whats your experiences/opinions?
Cheers

Some supersticous people wait until 12 weeks in case they 'jinx it'. But no matter how many weeks you are it's still your child so I guess the answer is as soon as you feel comfortable.

firstly congratulations.
most people suggest waiting for 12 weeks as this is when the chances are more in your favour of carrying the baby to term.
We have just been in a very similar situation ourselves, louise my partner is now 15 weeks, we decided we would tell our parents at 10 weeks, simply because if anything went wrong your going to need support as its obviously upsetting.
thankfully nothing went wrong and mother and baby are doing well, (just been for the 2nd scan, it was the most awesome thing ever!!!).
were just starting to buy things and getting the house sorted, (bit by bit).
we dont regret telling our parents early as its nice to share it with people anyway, and at 12 weeks we told everyone else important to us.
either way. good luck
james and louise x

Immediate family knew pretty much as soon as we knew, but we waited for the results of the 12 week scan before making it official

firstly, congratulations,
we waited till 13 weeks when we had the first scan, the main danger period for miscarriage is the first 16 weeks,
shes now 38 and a half weeks so only a week and a half left, trust me the first 8 months fly by but the last couple of weeks drag on and on

CONGRATULATIONS!!
We had planned to wait until the 12 week mark, but unfortunately I was sick as a dog (people were wondering what was wrong with me!) and was bursting to tell people
We went to the doctors as soon as we found out - she recommended we didnt tell people until then as we would be out of the danger period. Told close family though. Now in our 25th week with a growing bump and some pretty funky dungarees

A caustious congratulations, most people wait until the 12 week scan to make sure everything is OK. A work collegue of mine "secretly" announce she was expecting about a month ago. She had her 12 week scan on last Monday, didn't come in on Tuesday, found out on Wednesday she lost the baby.......

I seriously doubt if we can keep it a secret for another 6 weeks....
We found out at 4 weeks and 1 day, so keeping it secret from our close ones for 2 months was too much to ask, with it being our first.
A friend of ours made an interesting point....
If you tell everyone now, and god forbid, something were to happen, then everyone would know.
However, if it were kept a secret and then the unthinkable happened, you would tell them after the event anyway, so why not let people share your happiness early?
Its especially difficult for us for 2 reasons.....
Firstly, my wifes could not continue her current role at work being pregnant so had to be put on "protected duties"
Secondly, she competes in contact sports so had to stop the more physical parts of training.
People are quick to start guessing. Correctly!

Well its seven weeks tomorrow and we're thinking about breaking the news.
The secrecy is killing us and we've already nearly slipped up on numerous occasions, not to mention that folk are starting to guess for the reasons I listed above anyway.
Family party on Saturday, so we'll maybe announce then, as it'll be around the 8 week mark.

Congratulations!
Having lost 3 babies, I would wait until after 12 weeks but depends on the kind of person you are. I didn't want to talk about it after losing the first one, and found it incredibly hard telling people, so the next two times I didn't tell a soul and it was much easier. Everyone's different though. Hope it all goes well

My nosebleeds and constant throwing up from week 4 of pregnancy give away my pregnancies
