Wild Cat, RSPCA or Cat Protection etc
Hi,
I am just about to leave Nottingham, and have been looking after a street cat for two years.
From the start I have tried not to feed it every now and then, to see if the little feller has a home, and he always turns up a few days later very skinny.
Whos the best to report him to? I would take him home to my parents house, but we already have a 13 year old cat, and they would just cat fight constantly. Also the street cat aka Maximus, is still a bit wild, as he still goes for me every now and then, when he see's a leg in front of his face- guessing he has been booted alot when on the streets.
Advice welcome.

I reported a wild cat only because my idiot neighbour insisted on it. The RSPCA were useless, they were too busy p*ssing money up on advertising and fancy buildings but their official excuse was that their cat cages had been nicked (??). They told me to call the Cat Protection League and they took the cat away and put her down.
Your cat will more than likely be put down as well.

So far by the sounds of it, RSPCA will put him down, as he is a bit lairy, but are you sure on CPL?

Try the CPL, and seeing as you already feed the cat, say you are prepared to make a continuous donation to cover the care costs for the cat, if it can't be rehomed and stays with the CPL.

I would just leave it. Sounds cruel i know but it has a better chance of finding someone else to feed it, or feed itself. It was surviving before you came along and will survive after you've gone. Maybe you could mention to your neighbours about it and they might leave out some scraps for it. Just a thought

Hi,
steffiraf your idea sounds the best at the moment, as I live in a student area, they trend to leave scraps out for him. I will call the CPL, and see what they can do.
Cheers for all the useful help.

Is it really a street cat or could it be just very badly neglected but living somewhere. Even if it doesn't have a collar it may well be chipped - you could try running it up to your local vet and getting them to scan it; It could well be lost and miles from home and someone may be very grateful to get it back.
That's where I'd start anyway.
Best of luck,
Simon

If you cant take the cat with you Kammy, then it might be worth trying Simon's idea. It must be quite a worry if you have to leave her. If nothing else it might be worth trying Mansfield CPL though.
Our cat "found" us when we were living in Rainworth. He was a feral cat we think but he has been with us for 16 years now and has been a wonderful pet.
The one thing Bonehead seems to be good at is picking an appropriate Nic!
