...Indian call centres!!

FOUR calls i have had today! Four!!! They are doing my t1ts in!Does anybody know how i can put a stop to these as the usual measures dont seem to apply to calls made from outside the UK??

I would say join that tps thing or whatever it is, although that doesnt seem to do much. Just change your number and only tell people you want to know it, make it ex-direc straight away, etc.

I had a call to say 'yes sir because your a bt customer we can save you money"
"not interested"
"but let me just explain it to you"
"no im busy"
"well ill call you back later then"
"**** OFF " click

this is soooooo simple!

either:

a) dont give out your number, our house line is X dir and not given out to anyone except family...NEVER been cold called on it in 4 years

b) use TPS

c) say no and hang up

in the scheme of things there are prob worse problems in the world than this!

Which businesses/companies/scammers have Indian call centres? They call me up asking for Mrs Streebeck... but a Mr and i certainly ain't married...

thing is it's ok to go ex-direc but its usually too late once your numbers about and these overseas places keep foning you.

What makes me laugh is when you phone companies and get thru to an obviously non UK representative (as the ring tone changes!) and they say

'Hello you're thru to Martha, Bert etc...' and they also try to adopt regional UK dialects... You instigate small talk like 'god it's cold here today, whats it like where you are? and they say hmm the same and then you ask them where they are based and they say Delhi!!

I have car insurance from Admiral and i know damn well not to phone after 6pm as they divert their call centre to Bangladesh...
