Default Le Mans question

Just wondering whether it is too risky to just turn up and buy tickets (camping + admission) on the day. Haven't been before so don't know if they are likely to sell out.

Also what is the score with food/catering at the circuit? Is it just spleen-burgers and chips? I'm flying into the circuit (the old man has a small plane) and so will be travelling VERY light (just a small tent, sleeping bag, etc). So won't be able to stock up at a supermarket like we would if driving down, also will have no fridge/bbq/etc. Not sure I can handle crappy french burgers for 3 days though. Is there anywhere to get normal/decent grub?

Good food on course was a bit sparse last year. There were a few places selling various bagettes and other fair one step up from a burger. Outside of the course on or near to campgrounds you'll find kebab vans. Depending on where you camp there are a few public houses where you can pick up a decent meal.

Tickets and camping shouldn't be a problem outside of the course, although I have no idea if there is camping on the airfield itself.

hmm tickets ok, you might get camping in beusjour if you are lucky, but personally I wouldnt risk it at all. Better off keeping your eyes on piston heads.com lemans forum, some on there at the moment.

as for food - we always do a supermarket run and do bbqs etc, food on the circuit is sausage bagettes and er sausage baguettes

Well if walking you don;t need a camping ticket! Camping tickets apply to the vehicle, so just choose your campsite, walk in and pitch your tent!

Entrance tickets are available on the gate, and cost less than bought in advance as don;t entitle you to Qualifying (as its happened!)

Ask here; http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?f=25&h=0

There are a few who are flying in and they should be able to help you.
