Another "Bird Trouble" thread
Some pigeons or other vermin perch on the pergola at the back of our garden and regularly sh*t all over our nice teak garden furniture. Never seen them do it though so have no idea what sort of beasts they are. The are probably quite big judging be the size of the deposits.
Looking for some sort of mechanical device to stop them perching.
Anyone got some experience or tips they'd like to share?
Thanks in advance.
Suresh

I used to have the same problem with my kids swings.....
What I did was twisted wire around the top pole and made some fairly long thin wire spikes to stop them perching there. They need to be about 10cm long.
If you've got big area to do, you should probably just buy the proper stuff though.

A length of wire attached to a car battery would be discreet and effective
Alternatively you could smear the top of the pagola with an epoxy resin, then just chisel all the dead ones off periodically, or leave them on as a warning to other roosting creatures.
