What a nobber

I saw a nice little article in the paper yesterday about how after Gordon wiped £35M off of Tanzania's debt, their president went out and spent £30M on a new personal jet. It's the little things like that, that really endear me to Bob's cause

You'd think after chucking cash at the problem for almost 20 years BG et al. may have worked out that until they have regime and culture changes in Africa, the cash is not going to get to those that need it, the officials skim it all off for their own gain.

Now yes I appreciate the G8 countries can apply pressure, indeed they have and do, but short of a full on Iraq style invasion it really isn't going to make much difference. Mugabe isn't looking like he is going to change his ways any time soon for example.

He wants as many little boats as possible in the English Channel.

Isn't this like calling for all 9-yr-olds to play with their scooters along the M1?

Something like that, and if the weather isn't good it could be 18 hours of playing in the M1 with coastguard and resuce helicopters all over the place. While "steam" should give way to "sail" you're nuts if you think the Dover / Calais ferry is going to take autohelm off and move around a sail boat.

He is risking taking the real sting out of his campaign by going over the top like this.

There was a sting in all this? Africa needs more than a few grungy pop stars organising a sit in in Edinburgh to make an impact, the place is a bloody shambles.

Not to mention one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. I doubt Customs & Excise would be too happy about it either but then Captain Bollocks was never that good at thinking things through.

I think he means well but someone close to him should tell him when he has a good idea worth backing and to shut up as he is spouting complete bollox!

All those little boats crossing the sea to France and back - take a bite of a reality sandwich FFS Bobby!

I'm sure French customs will have a field day with all these boats turning up (if they arrive)

Can't see many boat owners on the south coast being bothered enough about Geldof's latest (dumb - really dumb) idea - travelers, hippies & political activists tend not to own boats (it's not green - I guess)

Wouldn't mind seeing some of their caravans float away though

I know he skinny and rather dirty, but surely the starving Africans would be able to get at least a couple of chops out of him? I'd be happy to sell him for a couple of bags of sand.

Nah, send him over for a nice cuppa, choccie digestive and discussion with some of the regimes so he can point out the error of their ways in spending so much cash slaughtering their neighbours / civillians* (delete as appropiate)
