Or so you'd think! Model engines have been around for a while now. About £1100 each last time I looked but that was some time ago so it may be all changed now. Love the flames out the back though.

Some model enthuiasts just go down the scrap yard and find a suitably sized turbo charger, they work suprisingly well as jet engines

Whilst doing a search for home made jet engines (btw the one in the video is probably a off-the-shelf specific jobby...but some die hards do make their own)

Yup, and he built a new one which he crashed on it's test flight last month.

It seems though that everything was sponsored by the component suppliers, like engines, etc.

You can but the jet engines from here http://www.jetcatusa.com/

and have a look at the Avonds F-15, apparently its a good starting kit but still theres no way i could afford to buy one, the wife would kill me
