UFC 53: Heavy hitters, tonight- 10.15pm Bravo!
Should be quite some viewing..
Two Ultimate Fighting Championship titles will be at stake when interim heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski takes on challenger Justin Eilers and middleweight champ Evan Tanner meets up-and-coming Rich Franklin.
Should be 8 fights on the card, its already happened in the states, so I dont want to know the results
Btw- anyone see UFC last night?
Vitor Belfort
HOW fast???
It wasnt Ian Freemans finest night either..

Will be interesting to see Forrest fight tonight - is this his first official fight since winning the show? Has Stephan Bonner fought yet as I thought he beat Forrest in the final tbh?
A lot of other good fights - eilers is a beast so arlovski will have his work cut out. Rich Franklin also pretty handy.
Simon.
P.S. So glad bravo show it instead of sky box office at £15 a shot!

Randy also beat chuck liddell and vitor (vitor beat him once on a technicality when he slashed randys eyelid with his gloves).
Im also a big fan of Matt Hughes. Guy is just so powerful.

Yup & Silvia was still trying to powerbomb him lol. Gonna be good tonight, Arlovski is an awesome fighter. Wish they'd get PrideFC on as well then I wouldn't have to mess about downloading them lol.

Respect to Arlovski - very impressive indeed.
Also Rich Franklin made Tanner look like he got run down by a lorry.
Excellent first fight for Forrest. Looking forward to series two of Ultimate Fighter but dont think Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin will be as good a characters as Randy and Chuck.
Night all!
Simon.

I didnt see him fight and didnt think he was fighting - he doesnt even have a UFC contract does he?
Plus he still appeared to have a dodgy ankle.
Do you actually mean Forrest Griffin? He fought Bill Mahood who sounded quite impressive. Forrest went forward landed a good few punches, took him down then got on his back and tapped him out with a rear naked choke.

Apologies Chrome. Didnt even know Nate was fighting. Wasnt even on the fightcard at ufc.tv
Was it some sort of prelim non-official UFC fight e.g. for deciding who gets into the UFC proper?
Its a pity we never got to see him fight in Ultimate Fighter through no fault of his own (training accident caused by others for anyone who didnt watch).
Pity Bravo didnt show it but to be fair at least they show most of and free of charge as opposed to Sky Box Office like the first UFC in the UK. £15 ffs. That said it would take much to show the highlights only.
Cheers,
Simon

Hmm just checked ufc.tv and Nates fight was listed. Strange I must have missed that when I checked last week.
They also didnt show Nick Diaz's fight. I quite like him.

I didnt realise they had fought twice either. The order Bravo show them all is a bit of pain I agree.
GRUDGE MATCH
Liddell (16-3-0) is fresh off his big win over previous light heavyweight champ Couture at UFC 52, but he’ll have one thing on his mind when facing Horn: revenge. That’s because Liddell’s first career loss (March 5, 1999, at UFC 19) came when Horn, a longtime veteran of mixed martial arts with a record of 85-13-5, executed a first-round arm triangle choke on the future champion. So UFC 54 provides a chance for Liddell to wipe the slate clean against his old nemesis. But Horn’s well-rounded skills and versatility will present a tough challenge for the champ in what should be a match for the ages.
Cheers,
Simon.
