Be very careful, tomtom5 gps reciever compatability is pants compared to tt3. It has been designed to work with the tomtom recievers, and as tomtom have said themselves, its just luck if it works with another make and model of reciever as they do not support anything else other than there own at the moment!!

Am I correct in saying these are "full" maps for europe rather than just the "major roads" which is on the TT3 CD?

They've re-jigged the gui and added a lot more features - the journey itenerary feature is way better than the old version.

Check out the TTN forum on www.pocketgpsworld.com - there's plenty of discussion about the upgrade on there.

Be aware that in some ways it is a backward step; it's a totally new code base and doesn't include quite all the features that TTN 3 did. There are also some new bugs and features which should hopefully be fixed in an update soon. Particularly annoying for me is that on a VGA Pocket PC, the map is so small in the Navigator view (2D maps, which I prefer) that it's almost unreadable from the driver's seat.

Yep - you have to subscribe but there are other FOC sources which are probably as up to date.

Overall, v.good and works fine with a Holux GR-230 receiver.

Cheers

I've just acquired tomtom mobile 5 and have been using it with a Nokia 6630 and a tomtom bluetooth receiver. very impressed sor far but its kills the phone battery pretty quick, as you would expect.

I usually use TomTom3 in the car with my ipaq, but it can be a pain in the **** if you don't use it for a few weeks and the ipaq goes flat- I've lost track of the amount of times I've had to re-install it.
