Question Anybody live in Northwich

I am relocating with work from Cumbria to Cheshire and am looking for somewhere to live. Does anyone live in Northwich and if so what's it like? Which are the best areas and where is best avoided?

Thanks

Steve

Are you sure Dave?

My girlfriend has an outpatients clinic in Northwich once a week and sees some very, erm, interesting characters...

Hi Steve

I dont know personally about Northwich but my bro in law spent nearly 12 months finding a house in that area. The houses that he liked and wanted to bid for were out of his range and he wasnt too fussed on the houses he could afford. Thats why he opted for Middlewich which, had a greater choice of house and a bit better prices. When i've visited i found Middlewich to be a really nice place.

Hope that helps

Northwich is lovely, as is Middlewich and Market Drayton etc.

I am sure there are interesting characters in Northwich, you should try Oldham on any a given lunchtime, then you'd see interesting!!!!!

Kingsmead is a nice place to look at.It's about 2 ish miles from the centre of Northwich and has some very nice houses.Probably 250k upwards though if that fits in your budget?
There are some rough parts of Northwich too which are best avoided (The same can be said for most towns/cities I guess!!)

Name areas! Rudheath is cheaper than anywhere else. Is there a reason why?

Where will you be working Steve? Cheshire has some nice spots, as does North Shropshire and North Wales easily commutable to depending on working location.

I'll be working at Daresbury Park near Warrington.

We also want to be within 30mins of Urmston in Manchester as my wife's parents live there and babysitting duties are required!

I don't like anything I've seen in Warrington that I can afford (budget c 250k). We like Stockton Heath and Lymm but the prices there are ridiculous!

Northwich itself mightnt be without fault, but where isnt? The area itself is very nice, especially Vale Royal. Id have a look at Peover Superior just for the address!

I am working in Northwich at the moment and it is a nice town. The one way system is a bit of a nightmare! Northwich/Middlewich are both nice places to live.

Thumbs down Don't do it!!

Would avoid Northwich itself whatever you do - it really is a dump full of chavs. Very down-market town centre, dearth of good local pubs & restaurants.

Much better to look at some of the surrounding villages.

Or why not consider Knutsford or Chester?

What sort of property / location are you looking for though? Northwich does a good line in sh*tty Victorian terraced properties.

Sister-in-law & family live in Comberbach - several miles outside Northwich - pleasant village but not many properties I'd go for.

Incidentally just sold mother-in-law's house in Comberbach for 95% of asking price, offer made within a week of property going on market.

Market Drayton is a 30 mile cross-country hike from Northwich - bit of a hike.
