birthday present suggestions for a 1yr old
my best mates boy is 1 on Friday. I'm going to the birthday bar-b-q on the Saturday.
I'm sure he'll get plenty of the usual presents from his family (toys, clothes, etc) so I was looking for gift ideas that were perhaps a bit different to the norm.
Scoobynet parents help me out please!
Cheers
Colin

For a one year old, the box will always be more interesting than the present..... Perhaps something to keep would be better than something to play with now?

I was gonna say, if it was your own kid then a nice Blitz nur-spec exhaust from daddy would be a good buy. great to listen to everytime in the car
or how about a framed pic of baby/family or something along those lines

Mines one in a month. Much to my sisters disgust we are NOT having a party! And we are not buying shed loads of prezzies. As someone mentioned, the box is more interesting. Saying that we will buy him a paddling pool - one which has water slides etc - for the gaden as it is getting warm now and he loves water and just being a boy ....
Mothercare do them.

I have a picture of my daughter on her first birthday; far more interested in the large box from something big and expensive (and ignored...); than her party and all of the other presents...

A winter jacket, 18-24 months and loads of socks. Socks, they always disappear. And get 5 pairs of the same colour, not one pair of each

We had our 1st B'day part for out twins last month. Got loads of cuddly toys, clothes etc. but no one bought books. We have a few more books since then, and they keep them occupied for longer than any of their toys. You can buy a range of books that will keep with their development.

Books are a very good choice. Early Learning Centre should be able to help and advise to which ones. The 'Letterland' range is good for learning and is what many schools use to teach the children phonics.

At 1 y/old they seem more interested in the wraping paper than the presents.
Books are a good idea or maybe a bank account with first 'investment' if they do not already have one.

NL has no truck with traditional values!
I think the bottle is a good idea, he can keep it maybe until he is is 18 or 21 for a real celebration and he will always remember it later.
