Nokia 6230i
Just got one and like most of the tweaks. A couple of things annoy me though:
i) Menu speed seems a lot slower than the 6230 - anyone had this and updated firmware yet?
ii) When pressing the menu the first icon selected is media player when on the 6230 it was messaging. Anyone know if its possible to change this as use messaging a lot more.
Cheers,
Simon.

I've got one - and a 6230 ....
Yep - you're right on both counts. Menus seem slower and when you press menu it comes up on the Media icon. This last bit seems logical as, if you notice, this is the middle of all the menu items so you only need one more move to get to where you want. It's a *change* - not sure whether I prefer it or not - but I can live with it!
Have you also noticed that when putting in your security code (when deleting all contacts e.g.) the number you pressed is visible on the screen for a second or so before the asterisk comes up???
I like it though!

hi res camera is nice.
video camera is cool.
menus do seem laggy tho anyway.
I have just finished using a T630 which was great until the joystick bit went a bit weird..
hence the upgrade.

Yeah its only minor gripes. I had a 6230 before and wasnt really bothered about upgrading but vodafone offered the 6230i to me for a fiver.
Main thing I noticed is the build quality - far superior to my 6230 which creaked as soon as you picked it up. Keypad is a lot sturdier too.
I like the new sms preview which shows you who a text is from and the first line of text. Also the fact that when sending a text on the final screen it shows contact name and number (6230 was just number which always made me think damn did I send that to the right person lol).

Got mine coming today
Thought i got a decent deal - free handset, £5 per month Vodafone line rental for 6 months, then £16 per month for the remaining 12 months, with 1000 off-peak minutes and 250 texts every month, plus £10 cashback plus a free clock! Sounded good to me.

Bl**dy Orange want £189 for me to upgrade to a 6230i. I've been with them for over 10 years spending £25 - £30 per month = £3000 minimum!!! and they won't give me a free handset.
A-holes, i'm taking me number and me business elsewhere.

I was amazed with Vodafone tbh. I only thought of upgrading as went looking with the mrs for her. Whilst in the shop I asked how much to upgrade to 6230i. They said £135 as I was on Singlepoint which Voda bought out. I said sod that so the guy suggested I cancel and go to PAYG for 1 month, then get a new voda contract. Sounded like a plan.
Decided to try my luck when I got home and called Voda up. Without even trying they said £30 which I was happy with as saved me messing around with cancelling and PAYG. However they said no handsets til following day so would call me back to process order.
In training all day so missed Voda calling back. Spoke to another guy who said they now had them in stock. Said hed check how much it would cost me. He came back and said £51. I was just about to say hold on the other guy said £30, when he added "but what I can do is refund you 2 months line rental equalling £46 which means the phone will cost you £5". So I bit his arm off lol
All this without me once trying it on or asking for a discount. I dont even spend more than my £23 line rental each month so its not like Im a big spender.
I declined on the offer of stop the clock though. Dont fancy an 18 month contract.
