It's a variation on spread betting by combining it with a 'newbie' offer to give you an edge. Yes it will work if you can secure both that offer and those odds when you place your bet. There are companies that alert people when a spread betting opertunity presents itself but often the odds change before you can get to your computer and take advantage. To make money spread betting you have to know what you are doing and be ahead of the game. Fast Blue Scooby (I think that the name) makes a living doing this.

My limited experience suggests otherwise and I once had a conversation with someone that had paid the money (a lot) for one of those email services that told of opertunities in normal sports betting with online bookmakers. In his experience you had usually no more than minutes from the moment the email came in to get your bets on or else the odds would most likely be changed to close your advantage. I'm not going to argue with you though - I know little about it.

Ah, sorry. Didn't realise we were talking sports betting. I guess in that case, things may be different with sports. Not sure.
IIRC, it works by different sports betting companies having different odds at instantaneous points - so short one company, and buy the other company, and there should be guaranteed small, very small, winnings.

It is correct and it does work. Ive done it many times with every debit card i could get my hands on.
Its not spread betting though, more a variation on arbing. Its really just getting a free £50 off the bookmaker without the possibility of losing. Even if the odds change you will still win, just *slightly* less as its going to take a massive amount of money to change hands to affect the odds minutely for a game as big as that.
However there is one catch, if you can really call it that, and it is that you can only use a particular debit card once per bokkmakers and they will only pay the offer out once per ip and postal address, which is why you have to get slightly *creative*, at times

I'm starting to get interested in this arbing, and free joining gift type betting. I've never placed a bet in my life, as I have always thought it was a "mugs" game.
However, when you can prove that mathematically you are going to come out on top, then it starts to get much more interesting
Anyone fancy giving me a few tips before I start?

Its not really a proper arb tho is it because the win or lose is only out by 50pence, its really taking £100 minus the difference between your stake and the guaranteed minimum return which is your £88 but thats made up of 2 x £50 incentives. Not knocking it, it does work!
