Washing machine recommendations?
Washing machine has lasted 12/13 years with family of 5 + guests etc. Now has damage to drum and scrapes on whatever is outside drum...
Anyway I'm guessing it's terminal... can provide piccy if anyone can advise???
So - what's new in washing machine technology - already got tumble drier so don't need combo.
Any thoughts/ advice much appreciated...
Cheers

A washing achine is the only appliance that I pay for an extended Warranty. We have a Zanussi which is pretty middle range and seems to last for about 3 years before something goes wrong. For what it's worth last week the drum was making a horrible noise. Turned out to be the drum bearing (standard roller bearing) which was knackered and quite a sod to fix but all done under Warranty. I actually bought a £35 quid used machine as a spare which I just plug in when Zanussi goes on sick leave. I guess Miele/Neff will be recommended but I guess you get what you pays for. You've done pretty well to have a machine last for 12/13 years DL

When our Miele goes I'm taking the buy the cheapest one you can find and throw it away when it breaks strategy - However the wife will overrule and we'll no doubt go for another Miele.
They are good - ours is 7 years old and still looks and behaves as New (According to the wife who sees it more than I do).

Checked cost of repair - replace inner drum. Zannusi said £160 inc labour... Local repair guy said £157 for drum!!! - but could get new version of machine rebranded as TricityBendix for £230 or Zanusi version for £280 - @ 'A' level efficiency instead of 12 yr old 'C' level...
So looks like a new machine is on the cards then - Wife has been looking forward to getting a new one for about 5 yrs LOL

At the end of that time, first time it breaks down, skip it, and start again.
That from my local washer repairman.

Had our Miele since early 1996. On average two wash cycles a day - yup, we like washing.....
Nothing has EVER gone wrong with it. Totally faultless, and it still spins at 1600 rpm.... Which was pretty impressive back in 1996.

Is it just me? but why don't they simplify the damned things. No-one uses most of the wash programmes, all you want is for the bloody thing to wash and spin your clothes I had a Zanussi that was over 20 years old, weighed a ton and none of this 1200 rpm spin nonsense that shake themselves to bits.

I bought a top of the range AEG back in 1995 - was £700 at the time which was quite a lot for such an appliance back then. Nothing at all has gone wrong with it in 10 years, and it's still going strong. From hearing other peoples experiences, cheap washing machines are a false economy.

Got an AEG fridge/freezer, oven and hob. Very happy with them.
Nearly as pleased as the Miele washer, drier and vacs...
