Default Anyone experienced the Dubai Gold Souq

I am getting married in October and will be in Dubai a few weeks before and was thinking of getting the wedding rings there , I have heard many good things re price but have a few questions

firstly do the just deal in Gold or can you get Platinum/Diamonds too ?

next do they accept credit cards as I really do not want to carry large amounts of cash ?

and lastly can things be made to order (from a picture ) and if so how long do they take ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,

I went there on my engagement. Got loads of "Indian" Gold there for my wedding. Rings, chains etc.

At the time they did silver and platinum but a little more limited.

You can pay by credit card. I said I would pay cash and haggled and got the credit card out in the end

Not sure about the ordering though.

One word of advice, it does get confusing if you go to every shop. Go prepared with say a camera and write down the best price and the name of the shop.

Hello

I had a wander around there. An interesting place. You do have to haggle and you do have to know what you want.

The design often doesn't have much to do with the value, it's purely on quality and weight. I had some things made up in Thailand, I'm sure they can do it in Dubai as well.

I got offered an extra 20% discount to come back to the owners flat for some reason I didn't want to translate. Next shop ...

The gold is worth about 6-7 times the value back home. I bought two rings at a value of £90 for both and had them valued in the uk at nearly £700.
