Las Vegas at New Years eve
We've just booked for LV for the New Years eve (and a few days before & after) so has anyone got any experience of Las Vegas then? (i.e. best place on the strip to be, what’s closed to public access, best view points, etc etc )
We’re booked in to the Excalibur (cheap but not bad location) .. and I’ll try
To get a strip view
we’ve been to Vegas (last year) and it was a blast then! Got only knows what New Years eve will be like
(BTW, what with the whole beads & topless thing, and it really as common as it seems ? (I hope so!)

Went for NYE 2003......letdown. The fireworks on all the strip hotels at midnight were pretty lame and nowhere near as good as the Disney shows that go on Daily or the shows that you see in Places like Sydney on NYE.
Beads and topless girls.....no not really....do you know how cold it is in the winter there At least -10C most nights, take a lot of warm clothes!
It was really busy on the strip and there was a good party atmosphere but it never really "went off".
There didn't really seem to be any decent club nights to go to on NYE, or any other night from my pov. All the music is R+B and HIP-HOP / RAP which isn't my thing. A club called ICE is now quite good though and being run by different guys to when it first opened/we went. Its asthetically/technically the best club in the world so now they have some decent house music on i reckon it'd be really good. Think it was about $200 a ticket for NYE in 2003 but we didn't go on NYE as the music was **** and not worth it.
Vegas is good but it's not much better on NYE and any other night to be honest.

Went NYE 2000 2001 2002
The police shut the strip and all adjoining roads at 4.00pm IIR and dont open till the following morning early
So if you ain't in the strip before that it could be a long walk
Watch the Fireworks and as above it was OK nothing great
I think the 4th July festivities I went to was better the NYE
And yes can get pretty bloody chili at night
