Default Watch for the extra Cameras

Just received this :-

"SAFER ROADS DAY" - AN AMBITIOUS CASUALTY REDUCTION INITIATIVE ACROSS WEST YORKSHIRE

May 1st 2005 will be Safer Roads Day in West Yorkshire.

Quite simply, the aim is to have a day when there is not a single injury-causing
road crash across the whole of
West Yorkshire.

This ambitious initiative is being spearheaded by West Yorkshire Casualty
Reduction Partnership, with the support and participation of the region's road
safety teams in both public and private sectors and road safety charities.

"We want all roads to be casualty-free every day. By choosing an
easy-to-remember date to focus people's attention, we hope to promote an
understanding that we all have a part to play in keeping the roads safe,"
explains Philip J Gwynne, Head of Public Affairs at West Yorkshire Casualty
Reduction Partnership.

"More importantly," he adds, "Safer Roads Day should lead to a tangible,
measurable and genuine reduction in the number of injury-causing road crashes
across the whole of the partnership's area... and, surely, that is something we
should all commit to?"

Safer Roads Day on May 1st 2005 is a BIG, ambitious project that will bring home
to the public an idea of the work that's done to save lives and prevent
casualties on their local roads. It will convey the important truth that
cameras in West Yorkshire are only sited in the worst accident zones, not to
raise revenue. So, if you see safety cameras at the side of the road, you are in
a casualty "black spot" and you need to take extra care.

So that'll be loads more cameras about tomorrow then

There'll be quite a few of us heading up to Elvington tomorrow, so I'd better spread the word

Someone, somewhere, needs to drive past a speed camera within the limit and just run over someone. That will end this stupid debate.
