Talking James Blunt

Anyone else familiar with this guy? I got the album a few months back through work and its been a solid fixture in every chilled playlist I have. Went to see him live last night and he was brilliant.

The album is out at the mo and I recommend checking it out if you like male solo artists.

PS also keep an eye on Stephen Fretwell

James Blunt - is that rhyming slang?

Someone had to say it, might as well be me

Local radio here is playing "Wisemen" (I think that's what it's called anyway) which is definitely one to chill out to.

I had never heard of him till he appeared on Top of the Pops (which was on in the background). His record was really brilliant and unusual. I went out and got the album the next day, and it is fantastic also.
Now have tickets to see him live in Glasgoiw in October. Can't wait!

If anybody has a television or radio it'd be hard not to have heard either!

Now he's popular (#1 single and album), I expect his coolness factor will disappear. That said, it's a cracking album he's done.

Christ isn't that the bloke who talks and sings like Joe Pasquale?

PMSL what a nobber

And as for "The lyrics make you think..." listen to You're Beautiful...

1st verse "...but I've got a plan..."
Chorus "...and I don't know what to do..."

Sure makes me think, makes me think the daft blunt doesn't know what he's on about.

All IMO

great album, album versions are better than radio edits though, as they have less percussion - makes the songs much more emotional - my fave is "goodbye my lover"

the album is supposed to be all about his experience in Bosnia

Saw him in Colchester in June. Very talented guy, and has a great voice. Also going to see him at Rock City and Shepherds Bush Empire.

You mean all in Chris Moyles opinion

The album is superb, simple as that. Not much can tear me away from Digitally Imported during the day but that album managed it the last few months.

its an album that i can listen to over & over while on my way to work - first one i can think of that ive done & can do that without getting bored of it.

another good one is "cry" - I have seen birth. I have seen death. Lived to see a lover's final breath... kinda sad esp if for real experiences

He is an ex squaddie and served in Kosovo...or one of the Balkans so think about some of the lyrics as they are about his term.

Excellent for a chill

I kinda knew this thread would reappear one day
So far I've seen him live twice, once in April (this thread) at the Academy in Manchester and again in June in Dublin. He is really good live and is a genuine singer/songwriting talent which is nice to see for once.

Got some pics in Dublin, some of which are here.

PS Stephen Fretwell still getting very heavy rotation for me, in many ways I actually prefer him over JB, especially as he namechecks places in Manchester .

I tend to listen on my way home

First heard his name on another SNET post a while back. It's really grown on me.

Don't hear Rad1 v often, so I hadn't realised it had made radio 1 playlists.

they're from a digi camera. i could have recorded the whole songs, but the quality would have been worse. 120s and 480s jobby. The sound isn't too bad though.

actuall I think 'you're beautiful' was on the lower setting.
