Lightbulb How do you inhibit the want for food?

I eat 3 times a day. I like hot, savoury food.

When I'm hungry (trying to cut back) I want to eat, however I think I eat a little too much.

Whats the best way to reduce that hunger?? Tried celery.......with minimal success.

Find an activity that really holds your interest. It'll take your mind off food for ages.

Would worry that it is muscle atrophy and you are losing muscle through not having enough calorific intake!

Also - for original question - Try to eat smaller more regular meals (5 a day) and drink MUCH more water - 2 litres is a minimum - I aim for about 3-4litres (p1ss like a racehorse - but feel much better)

I find water helps. If I'm in the office all day, I'll get through a two litre bottle. There's a grove from my desk to the toilet now - feels like I'm up and down every five minutes...

Seriously, even misses has commented on how well Im losing fat. defo feel my abs close to coming through now, cant be much fat on me (had a mahoosive chunk of fat round my waist a few weeks back....) I dont plan on keeping it up though as Im feeling tired now... playing football on sunday and will need some energy. so I'll probably eat well over the weekend and end up tues, wed, thurs eating next to nowt. yesterday I played golf which usually makes me hungry, got home. bowl of cereal and that did me, felt full enough to not want anything else to eat.... only had a bacon bap at dinner too, dont do breakfast either

Apple Juice - drinking lots gives you an insulin (?) spike which feeds muscles and so you're less likely to get hungry.

'Hunger' pains are often just dehydration - another vote for the water

I get through 4 pints at work now easily and am loosing 1 - 2 lbs per week

Dave, what you're describing sounds like the symptoms of mild depression.

(make sure you leave it 15 minutes after drinking the water to see if you are still hungry though - it's not instant )

But your brain sees the following drop in insulin and switches to hunger mode. The reason why most western societies have shocking obesity is that 97% (figure from Cosmo mag) of us are addicted to sugar. Eat sugar, insulin spike, insulin drop, hunger so must eat. The body never gets chance to burn any fats and protiens and so stores them, resulting in obesity.

i was getting through about 5-6 chock bars a day + 2-3 bags of crisps...i mean EVERY DAY....i was an addict!

heres what i did:

1. CUT OUT crap......just one chocky bar is like "just one smoke".....cut it out and you wont miss it. I havent touch chock/crisps in 6 weeks and have NO desire to (i used to be unable to fill up the car without buying 2-3 bars of crap)

2. Fibre + water (u cant have one without the other...well you can but it aint good for you) The fibre absorbs the water and fills you up...also has good digestive benifits.

3. Eat regular.....my 1st meal of the day used to be at 1pm......kitkat normally. Now i eat breakfast WITHOUT fail and alternate weetabix / poridge (NO SUGAR!)

that fills me up till lunch....lunch till mid afternoon......then to tea.....then supper. So i have 5 meals a day, good source of fibre in each because i also dumped white bread/rice and now everything is wholemeal.

on top of this i do various other things with carbs/proteins at different times of the day but thats more about my fitness/weigh training and not really relevant to the "im hungry" issue.

I think my belly is largely (excuse the pun) related to the fact I get though about 20 pints of beer every week.

it wont kill you but the water is absorb by the fibre which swells up...thus making you full......if you jack up the fibre but not the fluids you will find the fibre has the opposite effect on your "regularity" as fibre is suppose to!!!!!!

Been taking it since november, no side effects, apart from having to actively drink beer and eat calories to maintain that weight.
