Public Liability insurance for organising track/drfit day
Guys,
I'm trying to organise a track/drift day locally, and whilst planning to get everyone to sign waiver forms absolving the organisers, land-owners, etc from responsibility, I'm still unsure as to my legal position.
I believe if someone wants to sue for damage or injury (or worse! ) then these waivers mean virtually nothing...
Anyone here organised such an event and know what insurance would be required? Would I need to form a limited company to get such cover or could I do it as a "club" secretary or something?
I was hoping to organise such things on a no-profit basis to keep costs down, but if all this needs to be organised in a more formal manner I'd be forced to change my plan.
Cheers,
Squizz.

I have hired Castle Combe twice now for a group of friends (and friends of friends), I didn't make a profit either just purely split the costs between all drivers. Before doing so I thought I might need insurance but I didn't and Combe didn't ask me for any. So I didn't bother. I got all drivers/passengers to sign before going on track. Luckily we didn't have any problems on both days.
Perhaps someone with a little more experience may be able to assist you further

Track Day Organiser
Be very careful without Public Liability Cover! as an organiser you will be held liable!
Most track events will include an additional premium to be covered on the sites insurance. e.g. at the SIDC last Bedford day we pay an additional £200 to get cover
The club has public liability for all its events although this isn't cheap
