Unhappy Some moral advice please?

I would like some advice please as I’m not sure what to do.

I was in the car park at MFI in Warrington today and I witnessed a bloke in a UK bugeye open his door after he had parked and bang it into a Ford Puma’s door causing a fairly big dent in it.

He had a quick look round, got in his car and then fcuked off pretty rapidly. I got the number of the scoob and have left a phone number under the wiper, for the Puma driver to contact me.

Now I kinda feel guilty doing that in case it’s someone who uses this bb and I wouldn’t want to grass a fellow scoob owner up. What should I do if the Puma driver contacts me – give him the registration number or say I have mislaid it?

What would you like if you were the Puma owner?

There is absolutely no need to hit another car getting out except a total lack of respect for others, and yourself for that matter.

Subaru driver or not, do the right thing.

Plus the Puma driver might be female with large ...................

What's the dilemma? If the damage was that bad, doesn't matter that he was a scoob owner surely? Would you feel differently if it hadn't been a scoob owner that had caused the damage?

You gotta tell the truth, we all know people this has happened to and it pisses me off, doesn't matter what they drive or they are. The little s##t-house shouldn't have driven off

I disagree, you should be on the side of your fellow Scooby owner. I'm sure I made a errrr... I mean HE made a genuine mistake and then remembered he'd left the kettle boiling at home!

I would tell the truth, whether it be a scoob hitting another scoob or a scoob hitting a clapped out old lada its still damaging someone elses property or pride and joy so I would admit to what you seen, I wouldn't like for someone to hit my car and not know who had done it, I would have appreciated the contact number that was left and call it and ask what happened, you dont need to be involved in anyway

That's all well and good, but you didn't see the guy, he was a bit of a big bloke with a semi-slaphead, he looked a bit of a nasty pice of work to be honest. I don't want any comebacks from some crazy nutter over £50's worth of damage to somebodys car that I dont even know .

Hey - Its a puma - a dent is hardly going to effect the trade in value - Find out who owns the scoob and blackmail them

The Scoob owner isn't going to find out anything about you. Good on ya. Restores my faith in human nature. Gold Star.

Grass the ****** up In todays society so few people have any respect for others, show yours and do the honourable thing.

It's just cost me a packet to get car park dings out of all 4 doors and I am very careful where I park. Scoob doors are so thin he probably did more damage to his own than the Puma, but that ain't the point

Follow your conscience. Your first thought was to help the bloke with the dent in his door.

Anyone who is so thoughtless deserves to pay for the damage.

Good on you for doing that. Damaging other peoples property by choice or neglegence is not on, Scoob owner or not.

Hoepfully he won't do that again.

The guy that did it owns a scoob - big deal. Seeing as you frequent the same retail outlets, what are you going to do if he does it to you? Come bleating on here about some ****** who left a dent in your car and how much its going to cost you to get it sorted?

I had the same thing happen outside a Borders store. I was waiting for someone and saw this twonk in some car (cant remember what it was) fully laden with starbucks, open his door and put a huge crease in this fiat panda (which for its age looked like it had been cared for) He looked around got into his ****box and ****ed off sharpish. I wrote a letter with my mobile, the car number etc and stuck it in a plastic bag and put it under the windscreen. I had to go before the owners turned up but I never got contacted. I hope they found the tard and gave hima bloody good lesson on respect other peoples property !

Totally out of order. I got a door ding in my Clio in my work's car park! And no one admitted it there! Bang out of order. These people should be made to face their responsibilities!!

You have to tell them no question. It doesn't matter who was driving the scoob or what he looked like he deserves to be done for this. Personally i would have already reported it to the police.

stitch him up, my everyday car has dings & scuffs all over it.

Once whitnesed a guy parked next to mine, he got out of his car and dented the door leaving paint. I approached him and asked what he intend to do about it, his reply was that he hadn't done it, there was more paint of his paint on my car than on the total of his.

Had a dent sorted out on my wife's moonstone blue 206cc,only the other day, received from shopping trolley, hey the guy came and fixed it & you can't tell, amazing 10/10

you got my vote......

ok, an update:

I had a missed call last night and I didn't recognise the number, so I guess it was the Puma driver. I returned the call but there was no answer, and I didn't bother to leave a message, I supposse he/she will call back today.

Thanks for all the advice people, much appreciated. I know its a ****ty trick, so I suppose its only fair to get involved and pass on the details. There were distinctive marks on the Puma door of paint from the scoob. I can't believe anybody could be so cowardly as to do a runner, maybe he was uninsured?

Just a thought, if I pass on the details, and the scoob owner denies all knowledge, will I get dragged into it by the police etc? I would have no problem identifying the guy again, he was a bit of a lookalike of a certain person, maybe his piccie is already on police records, hence the runner? Would the police go to these lengths for an insurance claim?

Well that was an interesting phone call. She just called back, thanked me for leaving the note and my contact details etc. Apparently the puma needs a new door skin, repair bill will be in the region of £450 . She also pointed out she works in the legal proffession, and a written statement from me will be all thats required if he denies doing the damage.
