It's Official - Labour *will* introduce road charging.
Thre three main parties today announced their policies on transport.
Both Labour and the Lib Dems announced they are intending to introduce road charging.
The Tories however say they will NOT and that they will end the 8 year war on the motorist.
So now we know *exactly* where we stand.
Anyone still intending to vote New Labour is also voting for the introduction of Road Charging.
Vote wisely on May 5th.

Vote Labour and get more speed camera's, more tax increases, more illegal immigrants, more hospital infections, more control from europe, more crime more spin and more lies
Get less freedom of speech, less money in your pocket, less choice, less pension, less road building
Know what you going to get by all means
Vote

Not introducing road rape charges may well be the equivalent of a £100 weekly gift... sounds a much better idea than Labour's "bribe-a-chav" anti-truancy idea!

In truth this may be more fundamental than who you vote for.
There is a well organised campaign against private transport, that is to say your ability to own and use a private car. This campaign is funded and driven (excuse the pun) by the usual suspects on the far left of politics plus the green movement.
These people will try to infulence the actions and decisions of any government that gets elected and they have already put "their people" in key positions with respect to transport policy. It must be said that they have had it slightly easier under Labour just because as a party Labour tend somewhat more to the left than the Tories. However, the Tories would come under the same pressure and would, by and large, cave in and make the same concessions.
The people involved in these unbrella organisations who crave control and who want us out of our cars should be who we are all fighting against. Almost everyone on this forum is on the same side in this battle, except for those who don't own a car and who don't wish to use private transport as a means to enrich and enhance their lives both socially and economically.
So, rather than fighting against each other we must be attempting to exert pressure upon the parties that we support to reject the advances of those who crave total control of our lives. Unless you do this then the far left, the Stalinists and the green nutters are going to win this election no matter who you vote for. With this I urge everyone to contact their local candidates and let them know that you want to be allowed to drive your car, have your own thoughts etc. etc. and that these things are important to you and you are expecting to see them do something about it.
Let's stop bickering over some personality cult and let's unite to identify the real enemy and to eliminate their infulence in the political arena. With the far left (or right, who can tell the difference between Stalin and Hitler?) and their associated hangers on such as the do-gooders and the green nuts taken out of politics then we can have a real political debate and a real democracy based upon real policies.

I suppose one reason there are more hospital infections now is the increase in the number of patients seen. A few years back you'd probably wait 18 months just for a consultation, let alone a hospital visit

Whats road tax for then??. certainly isn't being used for repairs, will soon be needing to drive something with tracks instead of tyres around Edinburgh with the amount of trenches in the road.

Yes makes sense Labour reduces unemployment by paying people 35K a year to sit in offices doing nothing productive rather than giving them 10K a year in benefits! No wonder they transferred decisions to The Bank of England they aren’t to be trusted with pocket money let alone the country.

Perhaps just a few of them will even get a job in which they add to the tax take, not subtract from it!
Typical new labour logic

We pay them £35k ..... which, lets face it, is a diabolical low wage!! ..... they then pay £15k in tax and NI.
They are happy to be working and feel confident, so spend money on Plasma screens, PC's, and yes, even Rover cars!!!! ALL TAXED!!
They end up costing NOTHING!!
Put them on the scrap heap and see what happens
The only way things will get better in the UK is for as many as possible to become Stakeholders in the community!
If that can be bought for a low wage like £35k, then I think we have got an absolute BARGAIN!
Vote Labour, Vote for the community!

Everybody stops working, the government just pays them £35k each to go out and buy plasma tvs and rover cars every year
You really don't understand the concept of earned wage do you Pete? As I said, typical new labour logic...

wandering off topic eh?
Bringing it back in have you seen page 17 of Lib Dem manifesto where they say road charging will replace VED and tax on petrol, this will be based on location congestion and pollution, now that seems eminently more sensible to me. dont pay flat rates for much else do we regardless of use?
