Default shipping something heavy (150kg) to USA?

Anyone know a company who will ship something heavy -- around 150kg -- to the USA? FedEx seem to want around £700, and it's too heavy for UPS to take. Surely an entire container would only be around £1000? What sort of packaging would be required?

I think you need a freight company rather than a mainly courier company. Google will provide plenty of choice e.g. http://www.wtxglobal.com/ Are you talking air or sea? I assume sea for that weight. Forget the idea of a whole container. Packing would depend on content but freight company could probably pack into wooden crate or similar for you. I am sure someone on here will recommend an actual company they use instead of this waffle

I've asked http://www.cargobookers.co.uk/ for a quote. I would have thought it's possible to ship for a few hundred quid?

Surplus to requirements now. It's an eBay auction -- some **** in the USA asks me how much to ship. I go to the trouble of finding out, and then she replies "as it's not working I'm not interested". It would have been nice if she'd read the bit that said "Unused for around 10 years, and hence not working. Small power supply fuse blows around 5 seconds after switch-on" before asking me to investigate shipping costs
