Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany has been elected pope to lead the Roman Catholic Church, a cardinal announced on Tuesday.
He has chosen Pope Benedict XVI as his papal name, the cardinal said.
Pity, I was hoping for a slightly younger, black pope to be elected. I can see it now, standing on the balcony, hip hop blaring, and his opening blessing being "What up ******! Respect to the big G! Pray to da Lord!" Then after a while of blankness from the assembled masses a cry of "Damn! these white boys can't pray!"

Real die hard anti-multiculture type as well. Gonna go down well with our Muslim brethren. For *** sake, it's about time the RC church dragged itself kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

78! ok, how on earth did I miss that bit! Let's see, PJPII was, what 87, and so this chap is likely to be around for at least that long. Hmm, they are totally out of touch with the world as it stands.
