send the form back adding the new owner of the plate as a nomaniee. I think it cost £25
It will then be posted back to the original owner (at the top of the forum)
Make sure it is then assigned to a car within 12 months

Once the number is on retention you will be sent a V778 certificate with your details on.
Fill it out with the new owners details in the NOMINEE section, sign and date it, pay the admin fee (£25) and send it back.
The new V778 will come back to you as the GRANTEE (the nominee actually has no rights to the number). Then you can pass the V778 to the nominee but make sure you as grantee sign where it says to.
The new owner can fill out the rest, when and if they are ready to assign it to a vehicle.
If they don't do this within 12 months then a new reminder comes to YOU (as the grantee) asking for £25 to extend it for a further 12 months.
However, once the new owner assigns it to their vehicle you no longer get the paperwork.

So you have to send the form off to have the nominee added?
You can't take it in to DVLA with the nominee written on and the details of the nominee's car to have the registration put on the car?
