the ****e that used to pass for a decent modded car back then
mind you, there is an old golf that did a 13.88 1/4 mile. not to bad now, let alone then!

it's not actually a bad read, with a pretty detailed technical stuff feature about cams and cam profiles.
imagine what a tech stuff page would be like now? something about where to store your big mac wrapper or something

Oh the carlton which the winner wrote off a few weeks (or was it days?) after taking delivery.
I remember some guy's (Skeet?) lime green R5 GT mmm, nice. Those were simpler days, the chavs weren't as annoying

What were the other project cars?
I remember; RS Kicker, the aforementioned Project Thunder, the bright pink Escort Cossie (was in the max power game I recall) but what else did they have? Wasn't there a recent chavvy burberry type astra or something?

yeah, i think all the project cars were pretty well put together and most had a fair bit of work done on the engines.
project XS was another project car. 3 series beemer with wide arch kit, loads od stereo gear and that had a load done on the engine IIRC.
think i saw it for sale a couple of years back, wouldn't but it but it did still look good
edit- just seen your post sticky, gold star that man

Anyone remember the one with the Country's loudest FordCortina....it was brown too!
Nice green Jetta in that one too
Not sure if this is the rose tint on my sunstrip...but I'm sure the cars back then were more tasteful and unique to the crap that runs around on todays roads.

Back then Max Power helped me through my school lectures.
It's amazing how your perception and attitude changes isn't it.......I used to love browsing through that mag at all the riced up cars.
Now, I am more into CCC and Rally XS. LOL
The project cars in MP - they used to do posters IIRC? Can you now guess what I used to stick on my walls? (Amongst all the Villa stuff ).

re the posters
i covered my walls in them as a kid, a few still linger, i made a point to my GF that they could stay as long as they stuck to the walls
theres probably about 4 left in total
been meaning to move out of the parents house for about 5 years, so its never been decorated lol
when ever one falls down its put in the bin, i think theres a project "maxo" saxo one thats currently held up by 3 corners of blu-tack so that ones probably next in line to go

hoskib,
Check the staff column at the front of the magazine. Am I right in thinking that Vikki Butler Henderson was working for Max Power around that time?.....or was that Fast Car?
Craig.

I've got the first few issues kicking about somewhere and the first few issues of Rev's too. Wonder if they're worth anything.... Rev's first project car was a sweet looking 3 door cossie, big wheels, 350 ish brake and some ICE. Not a graphic in site, it was really sweet.
VBH used to go out with John Barker, ex of Performance Car and editor of Evo mag, that's going back a while now though...
Anorak mode off...

Had a quick look on ebay, Max Power magazines aren't worth much (Strange eh?) Evo magazines are going for a few quid, I'm sure I've got the first 50 or so still, that's nice to know.

You know what annoys me about Max Power? They do features on 'cruise babes' etc in which they ask ladies rather explicit questions about their sexual preferences -the questions about cars are almost incidental- and then they don't bother to publish said ladies' contact details!!!
Sloppy journalism!!
