Anyone work at a check in desk at an airport?
If a UK passport has less than 3 months to run but is valid for the duration of the flight/holiday will it be accepted for boarding, specifically with First Choice?
The destination country states that the passport has to be valid for the duration of stay but no longer.
First Choice Customers Services has confirmed it will be valid, but I really would like to hear from a check in person who deals with this everyday. I've seen it many times on airport programs where Customer Services say one thing and the "man" on the floor says something else.

If its valid when you check in and when you flight back then I cant see the problem.
What would be the point of the expiry date if it wasnt valid 2 months before it expired.
Sorry cant be more help, just sounds like your worrying abit much

You might have problems with a visit to the US, only because since 9/11 they've gone a bit security nuts. Understandably. Other than that, it shouldn't be a problem, and with Europe certainly fine.

I once went to Athens with a bloke called Andrew, but had a nickname of Felix.....daft bint at work who ordered his ticket ordered it as Felix & when we checked in & flew no-one batted an eyelid that his name on his ticket was different to his passport !!

Here is the reply from the airline -
"Thank you for contacting First Choice Holidays and Flights.
Further to your enquiry, for many destinations, your passport would need to
be valid for 6 months upon your return to the UK. The information we have
for Lanzarote, however, requires validity only for the period of your stay
and return to the UK."
So it seems it is mainly non EU countries who require the 6 months validity, Spain actually allows you to have a passport that is up to 12 months out of date. The airline would not let you board though but if you could get to Spain then you would be allowed in.
The annoying thing is the UK Passport Office could not tell me any of this.

Well I found it under Travel Advice on the Passport site here
On the site it links to the fco website that then tells you to check with the country yur going to through a consulate or embassy.
Looks like it's dependant on the country you're going to, I had always worked under the 6 month rule anyway.
