Angry my daughters skool is taking the pee...

...she went to nursery at 9am yesterday morning and i got a call an hour later to say she didnt look very well and had a tummy ache, could i pick her up.

this morning i took her to nursery becase she has been well since i brought her home...........i was made to bring her home again 'cos she has to be off for a minimum of 24 hours after a tummy upset...it was 23 hours

she never had a tummy upset just an ache, had an arguement with the head....and lost

is this the same for all skools?

Rules is rules! No doubt it's to stop them being sued if somebody else's little poppit comes down with some unrelated stomach ache and then blames the school for letting your kid come back. After the next GE you'll need to send them back in full NBC kit with air scrubbers

Must be that nursery policy: My wife is head of a large primary, and says it's not statutary.

You CAN see their point, I suppose, if they let her back and she infected others, (if she WAS infectious), they stand to be in trouble.

Alcazar

no ones getting sued...it just stops one kid being ill and then causing 10 others to be off as well. our school does it, good idea.

Don't think my daughters school does this but her creche does. Good on the one hand that it reduces the spread of viruses but bad because even if she isn't in creche we still have to pay.

Our previous creche only allowed the children 4 weeks off a year! if you took any more time off you still had to pay - whether it be through illness or holiday or whatever.

Is this a school or a nursery? Do you pay for her to go?

Sometimes I think these places are so out of touch with reality. It's impossible for working mums to get childcare elsewhere so it means taking an extra day's holiday or taking it without pay.

My daughter used to get sent home from nursery (private which I paid for) for having nits. I know they're bad and infecting others is bad etc, but I would treat her and send her back. The next week she'd get them again and be sent home. She was catching them from there, not at home! She's not had them since leaving there!

and of course, they protect them from *any* virus these days which does **** all for building up their immune systems

My young sister's at High School and I was stunned when she said they're not allowed to take showers after PE unless it's really muddy doing cross-country

Is that sort of thing go on at schools around the country these days. I though it was very weird.

the post after yours included "they stand to be in trouble" so there seemed an attitude that it was the school "covering their backs" in some way........i was pointing out that its not the school fearing problems (be it legal or stroppy mums) it was just the school wanting kids in class not sat at home because some kid is back in school and spreading germs.
