What gets me is the common house spider is actually the most venemous spider on the planet (or so i've heard) but it can't harm us because its 'fangs' arn't strong enough to break our skin, well knowing my luck i'll get bitten by one thats on steroids or evolved super strength nashers Its only a matter of time surely - put them in a pint glass, sling them out the window and let them do some freefall

into them and the venom paraylises them, then they wrap them up in their web.

Utter bunkum I'm afraid.
We do have a species in the UK that can bite though. See HERE
All spiders are venomous, but none in the UK are dangerously so.

Dragonflies are absolutely massive flying bombers of the insect world
Usually hanging about water bullying the reeds and having offspring that have alien type jaws that can eat small fish....I kid you not

leave me alone, stop picking on the poor little blighters. spiders are cool, and they eat all the annoying little bugs that would do far worse to your home
Edited to add the only thing you should be scared about is picking up a bunch of banana's, as often banana's come from south america which harbours one of the worlds most deadliest spiders, the brazilian wondering spider, which also happens to be highly aggressive.
'according to the Guinness Book of Records the world’s most venomous spiders is the Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria nigriventer).
This spider is believed to have the most active neurotoxic venom of any living spider. Its venom is so potent that only 0.006mg (0.00000021oz) is sufficient to kill a mouse. '
