Default Speed camera accuracy video

You can check out the BBC Inside Out programme on errors with speed cameras by following this link:

I think you will find it interesting, specially those people who think it will never happen to them. Most telling is the 58mph wall.

Enjoy the brave new world.

Interesting, isn't it?! All those cars on the motorway slip road doing zero mph or even going backwards!

I suppose there isn't a single device available to them that isn't open to error. Calibrated speedo's, who calibrated them, when and to what ? Vascar, based on human reaction and perceived distances. Gatso's, can be falsely triggered by large vehicles on the opposite carriageway. Laser devices, have to remain fixed on a position to give an accurate reading, which is a bit difficult as the object they are assessing is moving. Enough variance to get you off a murder charge, but not a speeding one

More people should take speeding cases to court where there is a marginal excess, such as 6mph........there has to be an ELEMENT of doubt, and therefore (in theory) it should be a 'not guilty' verdict.......although I fear the result may not quite be so easy...

The more fundamental question, with an election approaching, is should the devices shown in the video clip be allowed by the government to criminalise 3 million people per year?

What does it do to general faith in the rule of law and order when a device which shows a wall moving at 58mph can be used to remove your access to private transport?
