Angry DVLA = Clusterf*ck!

What a steaming pile of excrement the DVLA are.

Not so long ago I was having fun and games in THIS THREAD.

Now I am trying to renew my road rape tax. I don't want to do it at a post office because of THIS THREAD. So, on the reminder it says I can pay online here:

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehiclelicence

So I duly put in the details... wait... wait.... ERROR!

Put in the details again and....

Record Locked

There is a pending transaction for this vehicle. For security reasons a new transaction cannot be undertaken for at least 2 hours after the previous transaction.
FFS!

Right.... I'll phone then....

Recorded message: "all our operators are busy, you can renew online on our website or at a post office"

Then it hangs up!

Several attempts later on the phone system(having failed to reach a human being):

Recorded message: "There is a pending transaction for this vehicle. For security reasons a new transaction cannot be undertaken for at least 2 hours after the previous transaction."

aaarrrrggggh!

1) Sod it then.. I'll pay it whenever I can be bothered.. or when I get fined, whichever comes first.

2) Can someone scan a tax disc in for me so I can photoshop it!

3) I am going to post a dog **** to the DVLA

Just managed to get through to a human being who "unlocked the record" for me. Went back onto the site, put in the details and.....

Too late. The cow has well and truly been had!

The gimp on the phone also had the audacity to remind me that if I paid online today and the tax disk doesn't reach me by Monday (on account of them being ****e mailing things out) then I will have to keep the car off the road, despite them having my money!!!

The car is going to be on the road on Tuesday with or without their poxy tax disk.

would you expect tesco's to pay you for your time spent in their shop?

Really, you need to chill out a little. Sure, we expect on-line banking and bill paying to work when we need them, but if the service it unavailable or for some reason it's not working then I woudn't get too upset.

But you can re-new your road tax upto 1 month before it expires. You don't need to wait until the last minute.

I have a choice not to go to Tescos!!! (a choice that I already exercise incidentally)

No, you can only renew it AFTER the 15th of the month, so that leaves 2 weeks. If it takes the "5 working days" to get the tax disk to you then that leaves a 7 day window in which to do it!

They are making us pay the rape tax, but if I am going to waste my time standing in a queue at the post office then I will decide a time that is convenient to ME!

At least you've got a post office to exercise that right at. Both the sub post offices near to where I live have just had their licences removed on the grounds that there is a main PO in the town centre. The reason that the two SPO's got so much business in the first place is that the main PO is staffed by ******* who don't seem to be able to do more than 2 transactions per hour

Support your local sub post offices at all costs, they are generally run by people who know how to operate a business, and are fully aware of the value of customer satisfaction As opposed to the jobsworths at general post offices, who are merely employed by a massive corporation whose only visible talent is the ability to p!ss away billions of pounds of taxpayers money

Default Computer says NO!

*cough*

I am also now getting the "Record locked" error, after a whole day of "Essential maintenance" messages yesterday. The provious times I tried totday, I got the "No information has been recorded" message. How the hell does that turn into a "pending transaction"?

If you want to send a bag of dog (or cat) crap to the DVLA surely you have to go to the post office to have the package weighed?

Completely agree with you, spent the last few days having a go at DVLA re transfer my private plate, first person has no record of it being tranfered, second finally finds it - its being processed, lasat one today confirmed thay received the paper work re putting it on retention on the 2/2/05 and they processed it on the 18th. I mean WTF have they been doing with it all this time !
Ask when i will get the retention certificate so that I can put it on my new car -oh in the next 10 to 14 days ! Not happy !
Oh and I still have not received my remimder re renewal of scummy road tax for my other car !

If your all popping poop in the post, please wrap it well, as there is nothing worse than having to bag up "poop damaged items" in our office
Oh, and dont put your return address on the back either, or you'll get it back with interest

CSA er, no
