put some butter in a saucepan, melt the butter til its sizzling then add the mushrooms. Can also add seasoning and finely chopped garlic.

Never had button mushrooms with a roast before tho

LOL.

I like the Jamie Oliver way. Just roughly cut your root veg up, stuff butter, lemon rind, garlic and fine chopped streaky bacon in between the chicken skin and the breast, stick half a lemon in the cavity, then just bung it all in the oven. The butter melts through the chicken and then soaks into the veg.

That sounds a little too technical for me
The roasties are in - puddin is sorted - the wine is chilled - veg is prepped

I'm off for a beer

Boil 'em first (assuming they're just normal spuds to begin with), 'til they're not quite done then drain them, then put about half an inch of fat into the bottom of the roasting tin, roll the spuds around so they're covered, then put 'em in the oven for I think about an hour or so. Always seems to be longer than you'd think....

You should definately boil potatoes first; you might need to add some lard too if youre cooking them around the chicken, and raise the chicken slightly too.....

Brun
For future Ref:

Use either Maris Piper or King Edward spuds for roasties. Boil for 4 mins then shake around in pan before putting into either the fat from the roast or coat in a little groundnut oil and sea salt then put in hot oven (200c) for about 45-50 Mins.

Hope your chicken was OK
