Thumbs down House asking prices 'unrealistic'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4282193.stm

No **** sherlock!!

I want to invest in property. I’d like to move somewhere bigger. I can afford to, my mortgage is paid off, but there is no way I’m buying a house at the current loony prices. Everyone tries it on so there is just no sense in wilfully being ripped off by some greedy, jumped up, spikey haired, zoot suit wearing estate agent. As far as I’m concerned for the time being I’ll have to keep my money in my pocket until the ‘great realignment’ (that’s - house price crash in pre New Labour language) occurs.

My guess is people are selling houses off now hoping to wait for the crash before jumping back on the ladder, hence asking for more than its worth. trying their luck I should think. cant see a crash any time soon though

"some greedy, jumped up, spikey haired, zoot suit wearing estate agent"

And there was me thinking Vendors set the asking price / accept offers.

Lots of vendors trying it on ! just walk away if you personally are not willing to pay what is being asked. But it needs more than just you to do the same to change the market value

Always put in an offer of what you want to pay. They may laugh in your face, but just smirk and say well that's what it's worth, my offer stands if you change your mind, good luck to you and then walk away
