Cool

Funnily enough no, 8mp is not really much more.

The feature set of the 350D is slightly better than a D70 in some ways, still worse in others.

If it had been 12mp, fair enough, but a 2mp rise is virtually unnoticeable to the sizes you are going to use.

Anyway, it's far too expensive for you

For all those people who wanted a 'real' DSLR, but didn't want Nikon, they now have an outlet

I'd still rather have 8mp than 6!

BTW Pete, I think it was a 17-85 lens

Nikon kicked well and truly into touch I reckon!!

All those who paid BIG money for a D70 .... Ha Ha Ha Ha - priceless

Canon lead the way once again

Pete

Oh, yes, and 8m over 6m is a 33% increase ............ hardly a 'small' difference

Well, print some off from a 10D at A3, then a 20D at A3. I defy you to tell the difference.

You should see some of Andy Rouses D30 images. I could give you a 1DS MKII and you wouldn't get as good as those.

Pete, when you get off auto mode, come and talk to us again

Hey Pete, this is from a 300D forum.....

I think serious amateurs will rather buy D70 or 20D. Even the year old D70 has a better viewfinder and better focusing and metering system than the brand new 350D

Interestingly, if you actually look at the information above the photos, only a couple were taken with the kit 18-55 lens. The rest were with other lenses.

Good to see you've finally woken up Pete and joined in talking about what we all were last week That must be some strong medication you are on

ps. a 33% increase in pixel count is just a 15% improvement in each axis - equivalent to changing from, say, a print at 200dpi to 230dpi. As Geezer pointed out, you'll really struggle to tell any difference, especially if your technique isn't spot on or you don't have the sharpest lenses.

I still maintain that, with good technique and a sharp lens, a 3MP image can look great when printed at A3. Here are my usual examples, feel free to print them out if you have any doubts.
