Heads up - "Chavs" Monday 9pm Sky One
Journalist Julie Burchill defends the Chav culture. Should be interesting to see what Ms B comes up with as she argues that the term "Chav" is just another way of putting working class people down.

I suppose it's how you define chav, if its for people with money and bad taste then fair enough, should be a good programme.
If it's about people with no money or taste then fair enough, should be a good programme.

Celticpilgrim, I agree with you. Never liked anything she wrote as a music journalist and I'm sure she'll have some "interesting" views on this evening's programme...the picture I saw of her in the magazine I was reading showed her in a burberry skirt (what else?)

OMFG how much of an argumentative tit is that interviewer?? I actually half expected to look at chavs in a higher light after watching that but with thick buggers like her speaking for them theres **** all chance of that!

Well that was funny.
Apart from the fact that she completely missed the point, reporting on the outward symptomns of chavviness and defending that, she was regularly owned by Vanessa Feltz in all the interview shots with her and completely missed that.
"I was off work cos I'm chronic asthmatic" but she smokes!
Shame that despite quoting "Tasha Slappa" as the first thing to mock chavs, they ignored the whole "Kappa Slappa" lawsuit that prompted the rename of that character.

What the hell did you expect ?, course it was going to be showing Chavs in a positive light, do you really think that Sky are going to alienate a huge proportion of their subscribers ?
J4CKO, as seen at the Burberry outlet shop in Biscester on Saturday, didnt buy anything as I dont receive any benefits to pay for it, instead I earn my money and pay stupid crap like Council tax. Also I just went in to be sarcastic, middle class, repressed and scared of Chavs, very brave of me I think.

She had a column in the Sunday Times just gone, it was quite entertaining for its crapness. In it (innit?) she was defending working class wearing Burberry because it represented the working class taking pride and spending a lot of money on clothes.
I was left thinking, most of the chavs around my part of the world just buy cheap knock offs down the local market, so much for spending a lot on clothes, it's hard to spend less! She also doesn't seem to mention that chavs wearing Burberry started from idolising wealthier football hooligans. Then she goes and lists the celebrity chavs but insists that chavs are working class??? Dippy mare!

Oh yes, did anyone hear Julie Burchill trying to defend chavs on Radio 4 this morning, they put her up against some woman from the Daily Mail. That was probably the most bitchy interview I've ever heard, though hilarity ensued.
Her voice is even more stupid and annoying when she is live and not being edited by someone she is paying to try and make her look less stupid.

The part about chavs being the least sexually active had me in laughing fits. Im not saying that other people are not as sexually active, but for them to think they are the least is truely hilarious.

She completely missed the point - an hour given up to her anti middle class mumbo jumbo...
She dragged every working class person into the chav bracket which is more than unfair and on the flip side I know plenty of middle class folk who could fall into the chav bracket
Blaming Thatcher - (oh well I suppose the political angle had to slide in somewhere) was hilarious - like the ripping apart of the unions made people wear burberry and tart up **** cars??? NO - We had Howards Way in the 80's - the economy was clearly fantastic
She was crap and the programme a waste of 1 hour of my life - nowhere near enough scum humans to point at and mock for my liking except for DJ Sweatrash or whatever his 'ring' said... I agree Sky wont want to isolate viewers but hey...
Anyway - wasnt she a munting minging heffer@
