Not Another MP3 PLayer Thread!?!
Afternoon all
Don't want to turn this thread into another I-Pod againast the world cos I've read enough about them in other threads to tell me what I need to know
What I would like to know is whether anybody on here has got a Sony NW-HD3 and what they think of it? Are they pleased with the purchase / present? Happy with how it works? Any odd things that they don't like?
Cheers
Andy

This is one of those things that I think the novelty of would wear off fairly quickly.
For me it was the same with Walkmans, CD Walkmans and Mini Disc Players. I've had the lot, and top of the range stuff too, only for them to sit gathering dust after a few weeks.
I've bought a cheap as chips MP3 player, 256Mb - enough for about 50 songs, with a radio (which TBF is sh!te). Cost me £39. Never heard of the brand but it's got a range of equaliser effects, a blue backlit LCD display, full track listing (with lyrics if so desired) and doubles up as a data stick.
I'm never wearing it long enough to get through all 50 tracks and it only takes seconds to change them on the pc so why pay £xxx for 10,000 tracks you'll never listen to?
All IMO of course.

One of the guys on my shift at work has one.
Looks good, nice size and feels robust enough.
The opinion of the shift (we give them to others when they go to the gym) my iPod (5gig 2nd gen) is a better player.
Easier to use, better display, sounds a bit better (although I use B&o earphones against his sony std. ones) are things that I have heard from others about the pod vs sony.
I have had a shot of the Sony a few times now and I really like it but my iPod just nudges it.
Sorry to have mentioned the iPod but it just so happens to be the situation in which I have encountered the Sony.

Thanks for the feedback guys
J2S - yeah I agree on the novelty thing. I've been through Walkmans, CD Walkmans... mini disc players and so on too. I'd had the mini disc player about 3/4 months before it effectively got put in a cupboard and hasn't been used since The thing with the mini-disc player was that I got fedup with having to record cd's to mini discs in the time it effectively takes to listen to it

In that case I'd be inclined to go for one with a hard disc, so you can just load everything you ever might want to listen to onto it once. That saves the hassle of connecting to your PC every time you want to change the selection - and that's what I've tended to get bored of doing after a while.
That said, I'm currently using my Pocket PC as an MP3 player - it has a 1GB SD card in it and sounds much better than my HD player, and as it's permanently connected to my office PC during the day it's really no hassle to drag and drop new music onto it as and when I feel like it.

But seriously, does anyone know whether the software restricts you form the amounts of times you can transfer it / from your player / onto a CD?

just bought a creative zen plus with a 60gig hd. i can see where people come from when they say how many tracks can you listen two. i bus it into work in the mornings now and never get more than 4 or 5 songs played. handy for parties though, switch it on and flick the random track and you have a whole night of music and not one repeated track.
