Video Camera Suggestions
I'm looking to buy a video camera but have to admit to not knowing an awful lot about it.
I'm looking for something that will output to the PC (probably by firewire) so that I can edit the video before burning to DVD (I'm guessing I am looking for a digital camcorder??). I'm not looking for anything specialist, i.e. I'm not doing night shooting or anything like that, just holiday type video and to keep a bit of a diary of the work we are doing on the house. I'm not worried about the ability to take stills as we have a pretty good digital camera, but want something that is reasonable video and sound quality.
I think that covers most things. Looking to spend £400-£600, any suggestions?

Lol - shoe it in why don't you
I am trying to get a feel for the options out there and why I should go for a particular model. Why is your "old" camcorder better than any current models in the £400-£600 bracket?

I looked around six months ago and would have been happy to buy a Sony HC40, or for more money a Panasonic (GS/NV?)200. I never did, just couldn't be bothered. But they seemed to get a lot of good reviews.
