Just realised this is XD flash in that camera, so prices not as cheap as CF.
Sorry - maybe £22 is the best price then
At the end of the day, it's just memory. It's the same chips in each moulding. Should be parity across all media types

Lol Touché!
It's not at all the same chips in each card, though, they vary enormously in performance and compatibility. £22 was for a Sandisk SD card as an example.

True, especially for the smaller capacity devices. Once you get to high capacities and physically small formats, the number and type of die used and the way they're packaged does vary.
None of this should really affect the UK price, though. Compare and contrast the price of a 1GB SD card in the UK against what the same card sells for in the US and prepare to cry. I nearly did.

To produce the highest capacities, multiple di(c)e are used - but that takes up more space than a single die of the higher capacity. The highest capacity dice are produced on the most technically advanced processes which initially always have yield problems, so a single cutting-edge, high capacity die will cost more than a pair of half the capacity each which are produced on a mature process.
To get the capacity in a small form factor, though, there's no choice but to use the smallest die available, and that means the single one from the cutting-edge process. Physically larger cards can use multiple dice which may be cheaper. That's also why CF cards are always available in the largest capacities first - there's no magic, just more space in which multiple dice will fit.
It's all a bit academic, though. Even if all the chips were the same, people will always pay for convenience. So, small form factors will always attract a premium because they're cute
