Default Tired looking RED paintwork.

Now I know alot of you swear by expensive polishes etc. But my question is...I've got me a red car that's looking a bit tired paintwise.

I'm looking to bring it back to life. I've tried the 'Meguiars' 3 stage stuff, but it's not been as good as I'd of liked, I'm looking to use compound of similar stuff. I don't mind putting in the elbow grease. The car hasn't gone pink, it's just the previous owners haven't really looked after it.

I'm not looking to buy Zymol, I can't warrant the expense of that. This isn't meant as a dig to those of you who buy it. I'm just looking to liven up my paint work.
A few years ago I had a black car, I compounded it etc and the results were amazing, trouble now is I can't remember what stuff it was I used and there's not a decent paint factors round here to ask for advice.

Cheers

Not for very long though I found that it soon went back to it's original shade of whitish red.

Get it resprayed?
Lightish rubbing compound?

you need to cut the paint back

with t cut original, light use of g3 rubbing compound or sumthing simmiler
then you need to polish it
then you need to wax it

and you need to keep on top of it otherwise it will look crap again in time
its the same as white paint

Depends on the extent of the damage. For serious blooming you'd need a series of cutting agents - working from a matted finish cut back to a shine. Last resort to sorting out a shine is to spray a clear lacquer coat.

3M Perfect-it then Finesse-it, machine glaze then a good polish.
