Default Phone call, I'm guessing a scam ?

Phone rings thsi evening, missus answers:

Automated system says: "This is the Lloyds TSB Security Centre, press any key to continue".

Missus doesn't and hangs up.

WTF is that all about, premium rate line if you press the key ?

Cheers

I 'think' it rings them back and they ask you for info.

Your mind thinks you have rung them - so they have you on the back foot!

It could be genuine. I had 2 similiar calls from Egg asking me to enter my date of birth for security. I was suspicious so called their security centre, and they couldn't understand my reluctance to give my details to an automated call.

Ah. maybe not a scam then. I did make a rather large purchase on my credit card earlier today, so maybe it is related ?

Anyway, if it is important, they can put a human on.

Cheers

Well, it was bugging me so I called the credit card people. Yes, it was them but they use an automated system to check you are in before putting you through to a human.

They were calling to check whether the large purchase was me or not as it is outside of my usual buying pattern.

They did say loads of people hang up on the automated call because of all the scams.
