I would say you'll have to contact the bank themselves unless someone happens to have sent a swift payment to that bank before.

You could send it without as far as I know but because the money is transferred through various banks it can get lost and could be difficult to trace without the iban number.

Do you have the swift code? that might do as an alternative but the full address of the bank itself should be enough from what I remember.

I thought that IBAN codes were only used in Europe.

Using the ordinary account number should be enough.

And many congrats on your new baby

Think it might be printed at the top of his monthly statements, assuming it's a long-term account there. Tell him to read them more carefully.

congrats on the sprog!

Surely there is a list of every bank with unique IBAN somewhere in the City? Have you pushed your bank to find out (I guess you have or you wouldn't be posting )

Or ask your bank if there is a Bank of Thailand or similar with a HQ in London and then contact them and see if they know.

You shouldn;t need to know the IBAN number if you have the banks address, sort code and the account number you wish to transfer to.
I have sent up to £20,000 with just these details to my fiance in Canada using an International Transfer Payments form .... but i don't use Halifax.
