Am I wrong, or is this guy being a t1t?
Had my car alarm certified pre christmas. Turns out the guy that came to do it knows Zoe (they have the same doctor) so the certificate was free, great.
Rang him yesterday to see if he could supply me with some speakers. He suggested a pair of Kenwoods, normally £145 but he would do them at £98.
I then texted him to say that I would be paying credit card. He replied saying there would be a charge of 3%
I replied by saying that I had since found them for £80 on the net and wouldn't be needing them. No Reply.
I texted again later in the day. No Reply.
Today I get a text asking if he could drop them round and that now they would be £98 even on a credit card.
I texted a reply saying that I would not be needing them.
He replied "thanks for ringing, I got them in stock as u ordered them!"
I asked him to check his messages.
"u ordered them @ 11am wed, ur text was @ 3.30pm, since i provided u a free service worth £35 b4 xmas u must think I'm running a charity. i dont appreciate that kind of thing!"
I told him they were too expensive and therefore didn't want them.
"its the principle! u obviously dont understand good business relations, next time don't go shopping with no money! i will just bill u 4 works carried out-ok! tell zoe i said hello!"
since then I've had a long ansa phone message left on the house phone. I've even offered to buy the damn things to make him go away. The guys a loon. I point of fact I could have bought them, installed them and then retuned them for a full refund within 14 days if I had wanted to.
I returned his call and he got into the whole don't get me started I'll come round yer house etc. After that he put the phone down.
Am a being unreasonable?

I sell plasma screen's and that sort of thing. I would never dream of spitting the dummy if a customer gave back word on a piece of kit. Let alsone texting them and ringing them up after work hours.
I was allways taught that the customer is allways right. Its a rule that has served me well.

I wouldn't attempt to do this sort of thing via sms. It seems as though the bloke initially did you a favour, and then due to some kind of breakdown in communication, it went sour. f you had 'phoned him to say that you didn't want the speakers, everything might have worked out ok.
I usually ignore any sms I get regarding work (e.g someone trying to book a day's holidau or soemthing). If someone can't be bothered to phone me, then I can't be bothered to do anything for them.

This is getting worse and worse - so this bloke's a depressed ex boxer who got beaten up in the ring, fancies your wife and is looking for some suitable punch bag to vent his frustrations on. Plus he has short term memory problems and probably doesn't know what day of the week it is.
If I were you I'd move to another town.

StickyMicky, that sms issue aside. As a customer you can ring up and cancel anything you like especially within the same day. You can in fact return stuff upto 14 days after purchace for a full refund. Unless the goods have been damged, or consumed.

Can we leave the texting issue to one side. The bit that was annoying me was the fact the guy had got so mad about me cancelling the order. Even if he had brought them to my door and I had said I didn't want them he should have accepted it, not start sending me childish messages and ranting on my ansaphone.
Chr1st if he thinks being left with a £98 paur of speakers is bad try being left with a plasma screen on your hands. Welcome to the world of retail.

If you dont need or socailise with this person, just ignore him, he should get bored sooner or later.
