Was this legal (parking stuff)?
Driving out of my village yesterday I came up against dust cart parked up on narrow road section with double white lines on bend. Hazards on whilst refuse guys loading up cart. No way past apart from creeping over lines and hoping nothing coming around bend too fast (I should have waited)... Lad in council office said this was quite legal for cart to be parked like this. Is this the case? DL

OK if they have to block the road at least have a guy on the look out and helping drivers to get past. DL

OK thanks for that. I don't remember any yellow marks so I guess he was in his (dangerous) rights then. Bet if I parked my car to "load up" I would be done......

Haven't been done for it yet, but I suppose in Billy Liar's Britain, there's always a fist time for revenue generating offences!

AFAIK he's quite within his rights to stop there provided there wasn't a single white line on the left and a 'no stopping' restriction. The double white lines can legally be crossed by you to pass a parked vehicle, or one moving below somehting like 5mph. Check the Highway Code.
