excellent idea if they are trained properly... anyone can use one of those machines quite easily and i would recommend it to people to learn especially if you are a first aider at work.
The fact is, if your heart goes, nothing is going to bring it back quicker and easier than a defribulator machine. And its a serious time factor, your chances are reduced exponentially as time goes on. from like 80% to 10% in a couple of mins

Sorry chaps, missed it yesterday.
Seriously, these automatic devices (AEDs) are amazing, just stick the electodes on and press go. The defibrillator decides whether a shock is required, and delivers one if necessary. All the time giving voice reports as to what's happening. If no shock is indicated it tells you to check for pulse; do CPR etc. Anyone can now buy them for around £1500. Should every Gym, Hotel, Restaurant, Village Hall, Golf Club etc. have one?? We must all be able to think of an occasion where someones life could have been saved by an AED.
Hope the bin men will get rubber gloves though!

I just had this image came into my mind of a dustcart careering round a corner with the crew all hanging off the back, on its way to a shout to revive a heart attack victim....
People putting their bins out by their gate, and Mrs Smith putting old Mr Smith out there 'cos he's got pains in the chest...
