A collegue of mine was awarded the MBE in the New Years Honours list

She is chuffed to bits

I know what each stand for

Member of the British Empire

Order of the British Empire

Comander of the British Empire


BUT WHICH IS THE MORE SENIOR

over to those in the know

I'd have thought all UK passport holders were members of the British empire? Then you'd get an Order, and finally you could command it.

No?

You'll see that the order (highest first) is:

CBE - Commander in The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire CBE
OBE - Officer in The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire OBE
MBE - Member in The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire MBE
