Default How many miles is "delivery miles"?

Just wondering. I'm picking up a new car from a dealership in the next few days, what sort of mileage does a new car usually have on it?

I assume it's not exactly zero, but what sort of number is typical?

Cheers

When I picked up my Impreza it had 36 miles on the clock which I thought was pretty high.

My Renault and Peugeot both had 7 miles on the clock (from the same dealership) when I picked them up. Either this is a coincidence or both had been clocked to delivery mileage?

My wife has had 2 brand new Punto's and from what I remember both if these were under 10 miles as well.

Anything upto 300miles.

Depending if the vehicle was driven to the selling dealers or trailered there.

Previously had a van with about 200 on the clock as it had been driven from its storage at the docks - openly admitted by the dealer and no reason to doubt it as when he did a stock search at the time we were buying the van it was shown as being located at the storage about 200miles away.

Can't see why it would bother anyone, 1st service is usually free and depending on the deal it'll either have zero fuel or a full tank

My UK MY00 had 7 miles on the clock. My '05 import STI had 22, some of which were km (ie. before speedo conversion) and the remainder of which were miles.

I knew of one Subaru dealer who used to transport new cars from one end of the country to the other with the speedos disconnected so that they wouldn't show the hugh mileage. Person concerned has not been Scooby dealer for many years and is believed to be holidaying at Her Majestys Pleasure.

The 2 new Scoobies i've had both had under 20 miles on the clock when i picked them up.

I think the car is road tested for at least 15 minutes as part of the PDI. I'd be worried if the mileage was very low.

Cheers all (especially Tiggs ).

It's a VAG car so I guess they could reset the mileage if the so desire. I was just wondering really, it's 8 years since i bought my last new car and couldn't remember what that had on it.

Too many if it's fault free or not enough if it's problematic.

Damned if you do.......hence why they reset the miles.

Yeah I think most are tight *****

But the last transit we bought had a full tank of diesel

I nearly fell over in shock when dealer told me whilst picking it up (after I asked where the nearest pertrol staion is)

My VW Passat (2001) was delivered with 39 miles on the clock, Skoda Superb (2004) with about 50 miles. Though both were driven to my house/work from the depot (or wherever). If you're picking it up yourself, I'd expect a lower mileage.

The Mrs got a second hand Seat Leon - that only had 6 miles on the clock! (Pre-reg jobbie).

I used to deliver new cars for a main dealer a couple of years ago, a customer wanted a car with specific options and the dealer located 1 on the Isle Of White - i had to get a train down there (from Yorkshire) and drive it back. When the customer got it it had almost 300 miles on the clock.
Lease companies specified if the mileage on the cars when they were delivered had to be less than 200 miles if driven - if it was to be more than that they had to be trailored
The dealer i worked for would get a mechanic to disconnect the speedo and i'd have to reconnect it when i delivered some cars :-o

Good Choice.

Will it be going to Jabba/Revo/AMD?

180+bhp and 300+lbft in a supermini is good fun.

Cheers
