Default Battle of the satellite dish

So, which of you peasants on here has a big white satellite dish proudly on the front of your house for all to see and marvel upon??

Ouzing that arrogance of "I have ALL the channels yet you can only afford the sports but both movies AND sports are a monetary bridge too far for you".

Bonus points go to those who have the cable running down the front of their house to the dish to.

Hello "Senior".

I have SKy Digital. I have the Sports as I am an avid football fan as well as darts.

It's a small dish, on the chimney facing the rear of the house and is barely visible. I really wanted it on the front of the house but there was no signal there

Was thinking about a 25ft CB aerial as well??

I think the big ones are purely used by lonely old men because all they are good for is picking up foreign **** channels. Why else would you want to get foreign TV.

I pity the poor people.

Look at that, look at that red button, begging to be pressed........

I shouldn't I know but it's just too tempting. I want that holiday too damn much. I also want that kettle that boils water in 25 seconds too, ooohhh that new Ab-toner looks good as well.

I'm gonna wear my little red button out soon. I best get another remote!! I wonder if I can get one by pressing the red button on this one??

I wonder if my red button will go to the shop to get me a bottle of booze??

Mines bigger than yours!

On a more serious note, there is no satellite dish appended to the ajm household!

Darts, on Sky Sports, lol. One reason I don't have it.

Speaking of Darts, I was watching it on BBC the other day, and to try and 'Jazz it up' and make it more exciting I've noticed they all have their own boxer-style entrances where they play music, I must say it was the biggest laugh I've had in ages so see some professional metal thrower dancing to some Hip Hop.

I'm surprised the guy didn't collapse under the exertion of it all.

That's the BDO and generally they are old men.

The PDC is a far superior organisation.

.....another point D_A_S, they have won thousands of pounds, have competed on TV and do something they enjoy. YOU on the other hand do not get on TV, do not win thousands and drive a Corsa.

Things a bit slack at work today S_AP?

I have a Sky Digital dish and an old analogue one as well, both in the shed and not in use. But then I have just moved and haven't had a chance to put them up yet

Back to school, OAP.

I doubt anyone would want to proudly display a large white dish. Any dish ruins the look of a house.

In North London you'll have plenty of them because there are a lot of Greek/Turkish families who want to see stuff in those languages off other satellites.

The sat feed, goes straight to both a satbox and my DVB card in my pc. with ProgDVB software i can record straight to hard disc in MPEG2 format. i dont even need to convert to DVD compliant files, just use dvdlab to make the dvd with menus. quite a sizeable collection as most of the foreign $ky equivalents, Palco, TPS, Viacom, Taquilla, ABsat etc etc all have pay per view movie channels that change their format somewhat after 12pm. They show quite a few *ahem educational programmes until about 5am. Most american, but the french and italian do like the "au naturelle" look

Well I have got a small dish for digital Sky and dont bother with the sports or the movies since all I want to see is in BBC or ITV in that respect.

I also have 3 phased aerials for amateur radio on the 80m band and a CB aerial tuned for the 10m band,

Les

Some of my handywork

Ah the days should I go back to earning shed loads of money for weeks away ? Naaaa sod that

As for the CB thing I have been there done that and still have a loft full of radios on last count I had 9 different rigs left last year I sold the best one on Ebay Yeasu FT757DX2 (modded for continious TX/RX 0-30mhz and TX power thank you G40DM ) + the ATU unit and the beast that used to upset a few people a Yeasu FL7000 It was the tower that mum and dad always complained about "do you realy need that thing " Yes, parents those were the days many years ago

As some of the locals used to say that's not a CB that's a radio station
