Open Water - The Movie.
Watched this yesterday - what does everyone think ?
IMHO it was one of those films that had the ability to "disturb" if you let it.
The scene where she had to let her dead husband drift away and then watch as he got mauled by sharks was shocking - didn't expect it all.
And the scene where she gave up the will to survive - also a little disturbing.
Quite a good film IMHO

Where was the emotional confict over hanging on to her dead husband and knowing the best thing to do it let him go
I suppose she was delerious - maybe why we didn't see much emotion

Weird film, boring as hell for most of it then pretty tense and horrible at the end. I was really hoping she'd be rescued.
The bit in the credits was different too, instead of pulling the camera out of that shark i was expecting a head or a leg to pop out.

I agree. For me the film was very disappointing and could have been a lot better. The ending was kind of weird, the camera was ok, but would have liked to have seen the diving trip organiser in there or a couple of limbs.

I watched this last night. I was unimpressed, the film seemed to be extremely slow and then suddenly - as already mentioned - the husband is dead and she decides to end it all.
Also, when he got bitten by a shark, they were surrounded by his blood. This would have sent the sharks wild and they would have been toast. Furthermore, why did the sharks suddenly decide to attack when he was dead, and had been released by his wife, after having circled them for a day?

well, the trailer with the quote 'Blair Witch meets Jaws" (or similar) has basically put me off seeing it.
That and the long winded plot described above:
- they get stranded in the ocean
- get surrounded by sharks
- he gets bitten and dies
- she feeds him to the sharks
- she dies
Wow! think I'll go and pull some finger nails out now...

you watch Jaws too many times!
the sharks may have been hungry but they arent going to eat two humans in rubber as opposed to their normal diet of fish!
that was the problem with th whole film....there is no way they were taken by sharks..........even in real life most ppl aggree they drowned.

Also, reading about how the film was made was interesting - I wish I'd realised what had gone into the making of the film before seeing it. For instance, all of the shark scenes were done with real sharks in the open sea. Both the actors were wearing chain mail under their wetsuits (so a shark bite can't be that unlikely). A shark expert was on hand and put bloody chunks of tuna in the water to attract the sharks. Sometimes the sharks would get too excited, so they would pull the actors out of the water. The female lead was scared of sharks and still did the film - a brave woman indeed.
